"Originally from north Georgia with part Cherokee heritage, I feel my initial love of the land was instrumental in the evolution of my art into a mixed-media format, consisting of collage, assemblage and printmaking . More recently due to travels to distant places involving teaching art workshops in Florence, Italy and Corsica, my art has further evolved into a more complex use of color, shape and texture found in architectural elements and old world textiles.” Patricia obtained her initial formal education at the University of Cincinnati, in the School of Design, Art and Architecture, where she received a BFA. She has also earned numerous Masters credits from the University of New Mexico and Amherst College. In addition she has studied under several world-renowned artists. She has works in private collections in Europe and throughout the United States, and has won numerous awards from Virginia to California. Most recently she is noted for her found object sculptures which she creates from all types of material, even from trips to the “old dump” in Grants, NM. Patricia has been teaching art at the Santa Fe Community College for over 20 years. She teaches the credit printmaking classes and a class in Creative Expression. When not teaching, she works out of her home studio in Santa Fe, NM. She has exhibited in several galleries in the Santa Fe area. Currently her work can be seen at Artistas de Santa Fe. Patricia can be reached at ppartist@yahoo.com. See more work of her work at www.patriciapearcefineart.com. |
